Topics

This conference will cover topics such as statistical analysis methods applied to food data, agri-food industry and related fields (e.g. cosmetics industry). The presentations will focus on conventional statistical tools, experimental designs and data analysis with their applications, as well as on the latest advances including  the development of new algorithms and methods. The selected topics, not exhaustive, for this conference are:

  • Sensometrics: statistical methods for sensory analysis. Planning of sensory evaluations and analysis of data from panels of experts or consumer groups. Study of the relations between instrumental measurements and sensory measurements, linking consumer preferences with sensory data.
  • Chemometrics: extraction of information from data collected in analytical chemistry, physical measurements, etc., exploration and prediction in a supervised or unsupervised setting, linear or non-linear procedures, data from multi-input tables.
  • Experimental designs: methodology that offers a general approach for joint optimization of experimental planning and modeling of phenomena studied in experimental sciences.
  • Process control: methods of statistics or Artificial Intelligence used to develop and better control a process and to improve the quality of products: quantitative or qualitative modeling, experimental designs, validation of measurement methods, control charts, neural networks, fuzzy logic, etc ...
  • Risk analysis: to better understand and control the evolution of micro-organisms and their effects on human health. To prevent the risks related to their development in the agrifood industries: epidemiology, predictive microbiology, dose - effect relationship, evaluation and management of the shelf-life expiration date., etc...
  • Big Data: massive database management. Using Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or Artificial Intelligence methods to understand consumer profiles.

All these themes can be addressed in their theoretical aspects, but also through applications. Posters on other topics related to food, agri-industry and related fields will be presented. Communications will preferably be in English.

Other elements of the program:

Round tables to discuss different topics among scientists. For each topic, two people will make an introduction (15 minutes), before opening the debate (30 minutes).

A corneR for posters on R packages. Participants wishing to present a package they use or have developed are invited to submit an abstract under the section "corneR". This presentation will be in the form of a poster, and some will be selected to be presented orally in two minutes to promote their poster. A dedicated "corneR" space will be set up, with possibility of demonstration.

Flash poster session (2 minutes): teasing session. As with "corneR", some posters may be selected for a short presentation

Plenary lectures will be by invitation of the scientific committee who will solicit researchers and/or industrialists. Oral communications will be selected by the Scientific Committee. It will also be possible to prepare communications in the form of posters. Abstracts must be submitted by January 10, 2018 to the Scientific Committee.
